and the whole of Dorset are mercifully distant from motorways (freeways) and trunk roads but nonetheless easily accessible. Around 2 ½ hours drive from London or 3 hours from the Midlands.

there are two lines into Dorchester - one from London Waterloo, the other from Bristol and London Paddington. (Click for

) There are occasional buses from Dorchester to Melcombe Bingham but taxi will be easiest - costing around £12 one way.
