Where is it?

Greygles is 120 miles south-west of London and 10 miles north-east of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset. It is only 10-15 miles from several other pleasant towns - Sturminster Newton, Sherborne and Blandford Forum. The nearest large town is Bournemouth, about 30 miles to the south-east.

Getting there

From international airports , it is about 100 miles from London Heathrow, 120 from London Gatwick, 50 from Southampton Airport and 30 from Bournemouth (Hurn).

For drivers from continental Europe, the nearest ferries come in to Portsmouth (70 miles), Poole (30 miles) and Weymouth (20 miles).

Greygles and the whole of Dorset are mercifully distant from motorways (freeways) and trunk roads but nonetheless easily accessible. Around 2 ½ hours drive from London or 3 hours from the Midlands.

By train there are two lines into Dorchester - one from London Waterloo, the other from Bristol and London Paddington. (Click for Railway time tables ) There are occasional buses from Dorchester to Melcombe Bingham but taxi will be easiest - costing around £12 one way.

Parking

Come through the gate and you will find space for two cars to easily park on tarmac at the far side of the house. There is also a garage which we are planning to make usable as a games room for older children.

Getting In

Just before the time of your stay, we will give you the code and directions for opening a key-safe which is easy to find. This means you can arrive at any time you like after 4pm; and during your stay you will be able to use the key-safe to avoid all those difficulties about who has the key and who will be home when.
